Hope in the Silence: Reflection for Good Friday and Easter
There are seasons when the world feels heavy. The sky darkens, and it seems like hope has been buried with everything we once held dear. Good Friday reminds us that even Jesus knew what it felt like to stand in that shadow.
On that day, the cross stood stark against a darkened sky. Jesus, who had healed the sick, comforted the broken, and spoken words of life, hung there in silence. His final words still echo in our hearts: “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” (Luke 23:46)

In that moment, it must have seemed like the end of every promise. The disciples scattered. The women who loved Him wept from a distance. The dream appeared shattered.
But we know now what they couldn’t see yet: the story wasn’t over. The tomb was never meant to be the final chapter.
From Darkness to Dawn
There’s something deeply beautiful about the way Easter morning breaks the silence. While it was still dark, Mary Magdalene made her way to the tomb, carrying her grief like a heavy cloak. What she found there changed everything.

The stone had been rolled away.
The grave clothes lay neatly folded.
And the angel’s words still whisper hope to every weary heart today: “He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.” (Matthew 28:6)
Can you imagine the joy that rushed in where grief had lived? Friend, the same power that rolled away that stone is still at work today. The power that raised Christ form the dead is faithfully, bringing new life to the places in us that feel dead or hopeless.
Easter doesn’t shout that life will be easy. It whispers something even better: that life will be renewed.
A Personal Invitation
Perhaps this Easter you’re carrying something heavy. Maybe you’re standing at your own “Good Friday”, symbolic of a loss, a diagnosis, a broken relationship, or a dream that seems to have died.
If that’s you, please let the hope of the Scripture rise in you:
The same Jesus who breathed His last on Friday and rose on Sunday still meets us in our silence. He doesn’t rush our grief. He sits with us in it. And when the time is right, He calls us by name, just as He did with Mary, and invites us to rise with Him.
He said in John 11:25-26 “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”

This Easter, I pray that you will feel the strength of resurrection power stirring in your heart. May the same love that held Jesus to the cross hold you through every dark night. And may the same power that raised Him from the dead bring fresh hope, healing, and new beginnings to every weary place inside you.
Easter Prayer
Lord Jesus, Thank You for walking through the darkest Friday so we would never walk alone. Thank You for the long Saturday that taught us to trust when we cannot see. And thank You for the glorious morning that reminds us nothing is impossible with You. Renew our hope. Heal our hearts. Fill us with confidence that because You live, we can face tomorrow. In Your name I pray, Amen.
Wishing you a blessed Good Friday and a joy-filled Easter.
May our risen Christ breathe fresh life into your spirit this season.

With love,
Susan
